The three main types of shielding that we work with when installing medical imaging equipment are:
- Radiation Shielding
- Magnetic Shielding
- RF Shielding
Radiation Shielding
When X-ray equipment or patients emit radiation there is generally a requirement to introduce shielding to protect against unnecessary exposure.
Shielding materials can vary but the most common material used is lead and also high density concrete.
We are able to supply and install a range of shielding solutions including shielded viewing windows and doors.
Magnetic Shielding
When installing Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) equipment there is a requirement to contain the magnetic field so that a predetermined strength is not accessible to unscreened persons. This is not always possible to achieve within the confines of a secure area and it is then that magnetic shielding is introduced to reshape the magnetic field in order for it to be contained within an agreed area.
Using the industry’s best consultants and suppliers we are able to carry out the design and installation of any magnetic shielding requirements you may have.
RF Shielding
When installing Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) equipment there is a requirement to construct a shielded enclosure around the MRI scanner in order for the machine to generate an image. This is generally carried out using a non ferrous shield with shielded accessories to allow for electrical and mechanical installations to be brought into the scanner room.
Whatever your requirements we have vast experience in this area and in partnership with our carefully selected suppliers we will be pleased to assist with any projects you may need assistance with.
